Since 1961, the decline in the child sex ratio has proved to be dangerous as the number of girls per 1000 boys is deteriorating day by day. This declination is alarming everybody that one day, there will be no girl in India. And this is one of the serious reasons for women disempowerment in India. Child sex ratio (CSR) reflects both pre-birth and post- birth discrimination in the form of biased sex selection. The biggest reasons behind the increasing sex selective elimination of girls and low CSR are social discrimination against girls and easy availability and affordability of diagnostic tools. Seeing this, the government announced “Beti Padhao Beti Badhao initiative.
